چطور مراسم عید نوروز را به زبان انگلیسی توصیف کنیم؟

سلام . من رعنا آذری زاد هستم. بعد از مطلبی که در خصوص سال نو میلادی نوشتم امروز می خوام یک مطلب هم در خصوص سال نوی ایرانی و نوروز به انگلیسی براتون بنویسم. ابتدا با یک متن ریدینگ شروع می‌کنیم و با برخی واژگان مربوط به این مراسم که ریشه در سنت کهن ایرانیان داره آشنا می شیم. بعد از خواندن متن به سوالات جواب می دید و میزان درک مطلب خودتون رو تست می کنید. نهایتا یک فایل ویدیویی در خصوص نوروز خواهید دید.

 امیدوارم سالی که گذشت با همه دغدغه هاش برامون پر بار بوده باشه و سال جدید هم از بهترین سالهای زندگیتون باشه.

Nowruz is the traditional Iranian festival of spring which starts at the exact moment of the commence of spring equinox. It is considered as the start of the New Year among Iranians. The name comes from Avestan which means “new day/daylight”. Nowruz is celebrated on March 20/21 each year; at the time the sun enters Aries and Spring begins.

Nowruz has been celebrated for at least 3,000 years and is deeply rooted in the rituals and traditions of the Zoroastrian religion. Today the festival of Nowruz is celebrated in Iran, Iraq, India, Afghanistan, Tajikestan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.

The name of Nowruz dates to the second century AD. We have reasons to believe that the celebration is much older than that date and was surely celebrated by the people and royalty during the Achaemenid times (555-330 BC). It has often been suggested that the famous Persepolis Complex, or at least the palace of Apadana and Hundred Columns Hall, were built for the specific purpose of celebrating Nowruz.

During the Nowruz holidays people are expected to pay house visits to one another (mostly limited to families, friends and neighbors) in the form of short house visits and the other side will also pay you a visit during the holidays before the 13th day of the spring.

All Iranians set a table before Nowruz which is called Haft-seen. They put some symbolic things on the table. For example, wheat is a symbol of rebirth, sweet wheat pudding shows affluence. Dried Russian olives represent love, and garlic is a symbol of medicine. Apple is a symbol of beauty and health, Sumac shows sunrise, and vinegar represents age and patience.
